Corning Cable Systems’ LANscape® Pretium EDGE Solutions with Corning ClearCurve® OM3/OM4 multimode fiber supported 40G Ethernet transmission over a 1250 m distance with the Avago Technologies 40G QSFP+ eSR4 transceiver module, while maintaining a bit error rate (BER) =< 10^-12 . The test length included four MTP®-mated pairs and  randomly selected Avago 40G QSFP+ eSR4 transceivers. The 40G testing was conducted at Corning’s Science and Technology Research Center in Corning, N.Y.

Corning Cable Systems collaborated with Avago Technologies to develop an extended reach solution based on the Avago eSR4 transceiver module (AFBR-79EEPZ). The low-cost solution meets the data center industry’s need to serve distances beyond the 100 m OM3 and 150 m OM4 distances, now specified in the IEEE 802.3ba 40/100G Standard. The Avago Technologies 40G QSFP+ eSR4 module distance specification is 300 m OM3 and 400 m OM4, utilizing generic industry connectivity. Corning Cable Systems’ EDGE Solution enables 330 m OM3 and 550 m OM4 distances that are inclusive to the Avago Technologies 40G QSFP+ eSR4 transceiver module product distribution.
